Sailing the North Course

Fleet Racing  -  Saturday, April 23, 2016

This racing day brought moderate winds up to 10 mph, aqua water, blue skies with a few white puffy clouds.  We decided to sail north to give us wider water so we could set a triangle with a windward leeward leg.  Our markers have about had it so we used Stu's homemade pipe mark with a red flag for the windward mark which was a little hard to find but we managed.  The gybe mark was a small orange buoy with the first reach a little tight leaving it an iffy spinnaker leg.

Four boats competed today.  We missed Mark and Lil.  Mark was hosting an Open House at his home club, the Boca Ciega Yacht Club.  On the line was Stu and Andy, the Bobs, the Kreutzers and the Kelly's.  The Kelly's took the first race and the last race and it was downhill in between.  Stu and Andy took two 1st's as well.  We had five races.  Who else had a 1st?  Did Stu have three firsts?

First Races in April

Fleet 123 Racing

April 3,2016

The wind was up after the cold front.  15-20 with higher gusts.  Mark put up his postponement flag (his arms) and we waited for the wind to abate which was predicted.

We wait no longer -- We had four boats go out.  The Kelly's set the windward mark.  Mark and Lil set the starting line (always know pin favored when Mark sets it).  Stu and Andy were on the line as well as Bob and Bob.  This time not only did Bob keep the rig up but was the winning skipper for the day.
 Nice Sailing!

Lil was trying to catch a pelican who had a hook and line caught on his head.

We sailed 4 races and then the Bob's and Mark and Lil stayed out for a 5th.  Wind was strong and shifty for the first two races and let up as the afternoon progressed.

Nauti-Nancy's after sailing.  Wayne and Pat Hastings dropped in for a visit.  They are heading back to the Cape at the end of the week.  We hope spring comes to the Cape soon.

Next race is scheduled for April 23rd.  It possibly will be changed to Sunday April 24 because of event at Boca Ciega.  Keep tuned in.

Women's Challenge is Saturday, April 30,2016 at Boca Ciega.
