The Florida State Day Sailer Championships were held
November 9th and 10th, 2013 in the beautiful Boca Ciaga
Bay hosted by the friendly Boca Ciaga Yacht Club. Mark Rother, skipper of “This Side Up”, did a
fabulous job organizing the event and as always was an outstanding emcee. Next gig is the Academy Awards. Stand aside Billy Chrystal.
We had
two days of great racing. Day 1 was
breezy with winds 19-20, but warm temperatures in the high 70’s. Day 2 was lighter with winds 8-12. After Day 1, the Kelly’s were tied with Mark
Rother and crew Lil Epstein. Bob
Holsinger and Angie Stieren were in 3rd. Day 2 started with the Kelly’s getting
bullets in the first two races. They
were in the lead in the 3rd race and it looked like another 1st
and a clean sweep for the day. Mark and
Lil found a private wind and scooted to the finish line, shooting the committee
boat for a 1st. Final results
were Kelly’s in first, Mark and Lil in 2nd. Stu Smith and crew---came in 3rd
upsetting the previous days standings.

Sailer for the regatta trophies.
